Pumpkin - Charm pendant
Pumpkin - Charm pendant
Trick or treats coming up again - Halloween is just around the corner! Halloween has long been a tradition in the USA and is one of the most important festivals of the year, but it has only been celebrated in Germany since the 1990s.
However, the Halloween symbol par excellence is and remains the jack-o'-lantern - the "Jack O'Lantern", as it is called in the USA. Especially in the United States, around Halloween, you should see a hollowed-out pumpkin with a carved grimace in front of almost every house. This tradition dates back to the legend of Stingy Jack, a drunken but witty Irishman. The devil tried to get him several times, but Stingy Jack tricked him into promising to leave his soul alone forever. But after his death, God didn't want him in heaven either. So Stingy Jack's damned soul has no choice but to walk the earth - a glowing piece of coal stuck in a hollowed-out turnip lights his way. To scare him off, the Irish placed spooky jack-o-lanterns around their house. And it's not just the Irish who do that to this day.
